Press , media and the pain ??

While freedom of the press is vital to retain accountability of the judicial system , the thin line between mere reporting facts and expressing opinions are increasingly and constantly crossed . What about accountability to those whose reputations are being tarnished in the process blatantly?

Welcome to Revelations !! Thoughts do not die and they come rebound to alter your subdued process of ratiocination . It's been a long hiatus and reasons will really not suffice for my disappearance from blog. Things have changed radically and its always better for the future. But I do believe , I have somehow come out of my miserable existence and started enjoying my new life .

Coming back to the topic which I initiated , the media and press is now being seen as tormentor and perpetrator of fundamental rights . Where did it go wrong ? It was all very fine when they generated rave reviews after getting the culprit of Jessica-Lall case sentenced. We applaud media for that but recent Aarushi murder case and fiona ( Goa case) seems to be violation of so called media rights when they encroach upon fundamental rights. Doctor couple , Parents of Aarushi were so distressed with the whole traumatic process that they appealed to media to respect their privacy and give some time for mournings of their beloved daughter . Coming to the crux , what caused so much pain and where did media go wrong ? The answer is too many mistakes purposely done by media . Lets tackle this by point of Issues :

1>. Violation of ethics : Do we need to say the way they malign the deceased character just to create sensations is the first violation of ethics . Without any concrete proof , the deceased child Aarushi was defamed time and again with the words , even though she was a merely 13 years old child .The law , Indecent representation of woman act was violated .So under used is this law that the press is probably unaware of its existence . Thanks to The Hindu , atleast I know now. It is one law which require press to report on woman in responsible manner that does not violate their dignity and the media violently and of course blatantly opposed that .

2>.Need for code of conduct : The harm done by the press to reputation is irreparable and it needs to adopt preventive measures before the damage is done . Well , even the police can not be spared regarding this but that would again take my long ramblings and that is a different story . The police release premature opinions to come out looking good in investigating crime and the press laps it up as an exclusive story . There must be certain code of conduct which forces press down to the humane level . But more than force , it should be the volition of press in this democracy.

3>. Right to privacy : Well , after violation of so many rights do we really need to talk about this . I just wish that may good sense prevail in media so that we could applaud them for another Jessica case rather than feel pathetic for their blatant blowing off of fundamental rights . Hats off to our media and their indecent way of conducting operations .

PS: There will be continuous outpouring of ramblings and now every issue will relate to certain cognitive thoughts .
