Last night I had a bit of serious chit-chat with my friend and he seemed to be bothered about reservation policy because it was going to hurt so many talented people . Then I read a few days ago in an article that IIT-Delhi, first batch had pathetic 43 failures out of 60 something , of course , we are talking of reserved category .
This reservation policy had government on its toes even when it was implemented in 1955 under the chairmanship of Kaka kalelkar . Kaka suggested to the commitee that the remedies which we are suggesting are worse than the evil we are out to combat . The reservation incited muslims to come forward to prove that except for the upper castes , namely , Sikh ,Syed ,Mohgul and Pathan ,all the other muslim castes were inferior and backward . The Indian christian also prepared themselves to fall in the trap . The aim should have been to help both indian christians and muslims without their being driven to accept the fissiparous principle of castes.
In concluding remarks , Kalelkar says that " It should have been better if we could determine the backwardness on principles rather than caste ". Well said , Sir !
Now why did I spare some thoughts about this ? Well , because of being a general spectator and unconsciously getting entertained by political gimmicks , I always had an urge to write about it . What I feel is that backwardness has a tendency to perpetuate itself and those who are listed as backwards tries to remain as such due to the various concessions and benefits they derive and thus backwardness becomes a vested interest .
Staying in the hostel throughout my childhood , we were taught first things to love every human being as only "human". My friends were muslims , christians and as a child we also shared some intimate bonds by sharing our stuffs and eatables. Hitherto , I am not interested in revealing my castes and asking others ( It embarrasses me like anything ). I am educated and i try to appear as such . Believe me , this caste system based gimmicks are leading us far away from egalitarian society . It takes two to tango . The politicians , for vote bank are perpetuating country to a divisive society . Now , they also wants these reservation riders to appear in ninth schedule of the parliament so that it could be beyond the reach of the supreme court .
Instead of encouraging backward classes to come forward , politicians are encouraging so that list which could be diminished in a decade or two could go on for eternity . What a disgusting step ! Two wrongs does never make a right and in possible future , I do not see any beacon of light in this regard . Things which could have been so obvious to understand seems delusion to politicians . God , help this country !!

Good Rahul that you have tried to resurface the issue which is so obvious. Well the matter "whether the
reservation policy should sustain" is still debatable, but one thing is for sure ,this way we are escalating the things. Method to improve the standard of backward classes was was introduced for small span of time but citing the current situation we find people wish not to drop this tag of backwardness. Rather this has created tension in the society ( Gujjars d recent examlple). Now 27% has been resrved for OBC. Despite gecreasing the criteria IITs cannot fill there OBC seat quota.. So he is in d loss... Ofcourse everyone, this process not only produces inefficient so called educated class which do little to improve d situation but also keep denying d seats to the deserved ones thus creating grudge and resentment among people.
This policy is bane than a boon for us , Alas!
Hope our so called leaders take lessons and take some selfless decisions.
